Description

The Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park is more commonly known to the locals of Bucharest as the Titan Park. The IOR Park is yet another usual, yet somewhat outdated denomination of the venue. All in all, we speak of one of the largest parks in Bucharest, since it stretches on a surface of some 85 hectares. It’s true a considerable part of the park is filled by the Titan Lake which, together with its five islands, picturesquely named the Pensioners’ Island, the IOR Island, the Roses’ Island, the Drowned People’s Island and the Dogs’ Island, stands as one of the top attractions of the park. The lake is divided into two distinct parts (the Titan Lake I and the Titan Lake II) by the Liviu Rebreanu Bridge. Next to the lake, a church dedicated to the Pentecost and built in an authentic Maramureş style, stands as one of the top attractions in the park. The leisure infrastructure of the venue is complemented by the plethora of bars, cafes and terraces, as well as by plenty of sports facilities: football fields, tennis courts, handball, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as kids’ playgrounds. The artesian well (quite impressive by its 16-meter diameter) and the decorative waterfall must also be mentioned.
